Business Intelligence Engineer
KrollThe Reporting, Insights & Analytics team is on a mission to harness the power of data to guide strategic decisions and improve business operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this team collaborates closely with C-Suite executives and Business Unit leaders to develop products, refine processes, and generate actionable insights on a global scale.
As a member of this team, you will play a key role in delivering scalable, high-quality business intelligence solutions that power decision-making across Sales & Pipeline, Engagement Economics, Capacity Planning, and other core operational areas. You will contribute to the development of reports, dashboards, and data models that help leadership monitor performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.
This role requires strong analytical thinking, foundational BI engineering skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Role Overview
As a Business Intelligence Engineer – Level 1, you will support the design, development, and optimization of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions within Kroll’s Azure-based data ecosystem.
You will work closely with senior BI engineers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into intuitive dashboards and well-structured semantic models. This role provides hands-on exposure to Power BI development, data modeling best practices, and structured Agile delivery.
You will contribute to building reliable, scalable, and trusted reporting assets that enable leadership to make confident, data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards aligned with business requirements.
Build and enhance semantic data models using best practices in dimensional modeling.
Write DAX measures and perform data transformations using Power Query (M).
Use SQL to extract, validate, and analyze data from enterprise systems.
Partner with Data Engineers to understand upstream data pipelines and support reporting needs.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across dashboards and published datasets.
Apply visualization best practices to deliver clear, intuitive, and executive-ready reporting.
Assist with testing, validation, and deployment across development and production environments.
Document KPIs, data definitions, and business logic to support governance standards.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and backlog refinement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
1–3 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or related data-focused roles.
Hands-on experience with Power BI (including DAX and Power Query).
Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases.
Foundational knowledge of data modeling principles (e.g., star schema).
Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (Azure experience preferred).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
